SYNOPSIS

Ten years ago, Ferrouze (30) immigrated to France from North Africa to be with her husband, Abdel. She works as a maid and life with Abdel, an unemployed intellectual, is difficult.

One day in the bus on the way to work, Ferrouze meets Mazia, a young “beur” (a French term referring to French-born children of North African immigrants). Mazia’s confidence and independence fascinate Ferrouze. Ferrouze watches as a romance develops between Mazia and Stephane, a romance which pushes Ferrouze to make a hard choice in her own life...
